I have been sitting here going back and forth and back about what to write. My original post was going to be about Donald Trump and why for all that is holy he has been so popular in the 2016 presidential race. And then I found an article that seemed to give an answer? Or at least try. It talked about the rise of American authoritarianism and how that was to blame for Trump’s success. That there is a growing number of people driven by both a need to maintain the established social order and fear of perceived threats to that order, who are flocking in droves to a “strongman” leader promising in the simplest terms to prevent their fears from coming true. I didn’t know what to write because I read this article an hour ago and wasn’t sure what to make of anything. I had so many questions about the intersection of Americanism and authoritarianism, how America’s specific history might be manifesting in this authoritarian spike, which Americans might be more susceptible to having “latent authoritarian tendencies”, etc.  And then I got into a discussion with my friends about the cultural competency of the short survey given to assess whether or not a person has more “latent authoritarian tendencies” and I got REAL turned around. So I was like, fuck it, I’m gonna make this a fashion entry! But I had no pictures of fashion, so. Here we are with our balls in our hands. I think what’s going to happen is I’m going to leave the article here for you to read, we can digest it together, and then come back and discuss it next week.

OR discuss whatever I want because this is a FUCKING dictatorship. Okay love you so much miss you bye!
